Show & Tell Friday: Heritage Album

My thanks to Cindy at My Romantic Home for hosting Show and Tell Friday.....please visit all the participants in this event.

This is an old photo album that was given to me by my late mother-in-law that had belonged to her Grandmother Campbell.
I wasn't into family genealogy then as I am now, but loved the old album and all the history behind it. Since that time, family genealogy has become very important and almost an obsession. I've been able to trace many of my hubby's family members back to the original settlers in the colonies......one on the Mayflower and another a year later in 1621; and many more from the late 1620's on.

As you can see, this album went through a lot, including a fire and water damage.
This is the inscription in the album.....check the date, Feb. 1906.
This Lizzie would be my hubby's maternal grandfather's half sister.

These are some of the photos that are in the book.
I don't know who they are except there are a few who resemble recently living family members that we know....I guess I'm in for a lot of research.
Thanks for visiting me and as always, your comments are greatly appreciated!

Hi Lenore, This album is a treasure! I agree, we do have lots in common. I scrolled down through just a few of your posts and saw several shared interests besides genealogy. I grow orchids too. And I have the same pair of silver candle sticks. Even our names begin with the same letter:)

Love the cute pouty little girl in you profile pic. I am guessing that is you. Sweet!

Thanks for stopping by my blog for Show & Tell Friday and for leaving your comment.

Kindly, ldh

It must be fate that I landed on your site! That's a beautiful family heirloom. You are very fortunate to trace your family back to the 1600s. You wouldn't happen to know of anyway you can trace family trees from Greece and Egypt, would you??

Any help you can give would be much appreciated!

Much Love,
MG

I've been scanning all our old photos and saving them on a disk. Hopefully I can give each one of our children one and they will treasure them.

Those photos are in great shape. A shame no names were included. We are all guilty of not writing the names on the backs of our photos. We never imagine that someday we'll not remember who the people are. I hope you're able to discover their names in your research.

Hi Lenore...

Ohhh my goodness...what a fabulous family heirloom! I've never seen a photo album that old and the cover is absolutely gorgeous...so ornate! Sounds like you've been having lots of fun tracing family heritages! Don't you just love those old, old family photos? All of my husband's family photos recently came into our possesion...we literally have hundreds of those old photos...many dating back into the 1800's! We are in the process of scanning them and getting them onto the computer right now. The sad thing is...so many of the photos aren't labeled so we have no idea who they are!

Well my friend, thank you so much for sharing this fabulous family album with us today...what a treat!!! And thank you so much for coming by my place for a visit and leaving me such a sweet note...sure do appreciate it!!!

Warmest wishes,
Chari @Happy To Design
