While on our recent trip to the east coast in May and June, we went to a lot of antique shops and antique flea markets looking for whatever struck our fancy.
While at Mt Vernon, I was looking at their red transfer ware pieces and was almost tempted to buy a few but the prices were too steep. So, Mr. AVO (unknown to me) purchased this beautiful antique piece of transfer ware at a local flea market.....and , of course, he got them WAY down from the original asking price.
The markings on the back of the plate
This is my rather small collection of red transfer ware so far
Small creamer that is vintage
I love this tea pot even though it's a reproduction
So now the question is.....do you like red transfer ware or blue transfer ware better?
I think I might like them both...(he he) and of course, that means I NEED to collect both colors!
Thank you for spending a bit of your day with me and please go over to
Cindy's My Romantic Home
to join in the rest of the party.

Hello Lenore...Well, I like the red transfer ware better but the blue is very appealing, too. Your collection is great and the blue plate is lovely. Susan
Love your transferware and how nice for your husband to buy that plate without you knowing it. I love both colors.
ohhhhhhhhhhhhh, RED! Yummy!
m ^..^
Love the Wedgwood plate but I am partial to red over blue. I've collected red for a long time. Brown and purple are favorites of mine to!
HI there! I HAD to come over, I saw your name on a comment o another blog. My name is Lenore too and I ahve never met another (besides my Mother!!:):). Now, I love both the red and blue so you should definitly collect BOTH!!! LOL! Glad to meet you! XO, Pinky
P.S. My name IS Lenore but I have been called Pinky since I was an infant .....except for the nuns at school:):)
Let's see I love the red and blue. I love black and green too! Brown is pretty too. I'm not sure I've seen a transferware color I DON"T like. I've been collecting plates from historical places we go too. I have Lincoln's birthplace in KY and the Hermitage (Andrew Jackson) in TN. Fun to collect the beautiful plates from the places you visit.
Fun little collection you have! If it's transferware, it's great! (but I like the red) Jacqueline
Thanks for your visit and comments. I had to check out your blog and found out you like transfer ware and genealogy. Me too!!
I'll be back.

The red is so pretty! But my favorite is green!!
Hi Lenore, What a sweet husband you have! I have a rather large collection of blue and white transferware that I have collected for many years. I just recently bought a few red pieces and I love these too.

Beautiful transferware! I am more drawn to brown transferware but your blue and red pieces are gorgeous!
lovely transferware doesn't matter what colour they are just stunning collection! thanks for sharing. wishing you a great weekend!
I like transferware but I like the pale blue that looks like it terribly old. I like the red of yours better.
What beauty! Thank you for sharing those photos with us. I'm glad to met you, my new blogger sister. Best regards, Sandra Z.
Very nice coincidence about the blue plate. Don't you just love it when things come together like that? I adore the plate by the way.

Thanks for visiting me at Echoes of Laughter! I came over to visit you...I love the blue transfer ware. I am very partial to blue & white dishes. I have a set of blue & white Spode, which I love!
Have a great weekend!
Angie
Love your new blue plate, but your red collection is good too.
I have literaly hundreds of pieces of blue and white, (many pieces are in daily use) and recently bought a red and white dish (my only one)....but I like that one too. Just haven't enough room to house another collection!
Hi Lenore,
I loveee the red! It is more uncommon isn't it? Well, at least I havent' seen alot of it.
I have a couple of blue pieces from my grandmother that I just love and everytime I use them I thing of her :)
But that red is just so pretty.
I am loving your blog lately, so beautifully put together and wonderful photos!
blessings,
starrydeborah
LOL! I'm with you Lenore! I like them both! Thanks for sharing!
They're both lovely - all the colors are. But I think my favorite type of transferware is floral chintz! ::Jill
Both are pretty, but if I had to pick a favorote, I would say red.
Enjoy your weekend.
I've never been able to decide between the red or blue. My everyday dishes are blue, and my good dishes are red, with lots of extra pieces of each. My real transferware love is 18th century brown - oh my, I guess, I have about 50 pieces of it. All in all, there are hundreds of pieces around here. I'm in love! You have a wonderful collection started. Mine was accumulated on the cheap over the years. Sally
Hi Lenore, I love your transfer ware pieces in both the red and the blue. I have just a few pieces in brown.
Nice stopping by today!
Kindly, ldh
Both colors are beautiful! I have a hard time choosing one over the other! I have pieces in blue, brown, black and purple and love them all. Sometimes the picture appeals to me, or the border. Your pieces are wonderful! Linda
